Halftime Speech: Jaguars v Texans

JT: Written as if I am in the locker room talking to the team, which I should be, if we are being honest

To the Offense: there is still 4:55 left in the half but the Jaguars are so absolutely pitiful that I can’t wait any longer. Calvin Ridley dropped a tuddy, false started, and then dropped another pass that might have been a fumble. The play calling is boring and ineffective. Many out patterns that either are not connecting or they are tackled immediately. Nobody is in sync (like the boy band after JT went bye bye bye). Engram has been targeted fewer times than a twelve point buck during the rut. I like that we are running the ball more than last week, but something needs to change because points aren’t on the board. Let’s settle down and run with several short passes over the middle. Give our receivers the chance to run after the catch. That isa stat you know. A stat we don’t show up on in this game, like at all. After the shorties, then we hit some long money makers for the big play. We just look discombobulated. And what’s with all of the penalties? Damn Cheaters. We’ve turned numerous one yard to go plays into “and 6s.” And Jamal Agnew fumbled another huge catch turning it over to the Texans just before the half. And Houston put another 3 on the board before taking it to the locker room. You, offense, are an embarrassment. Clean it up. The Venezuelan halftime dancers were more entertaining than our eleven offensive starters.

To the Defense: You guys take the week off? 17 points to the Texans. CJ Stroud is the most sacked QB known to man and the Jags currently have zero. The only guy who even got close one time was #45. Yep, you read that right. This is a team with a rookie QB and a worse offensive line than JAX. What are you doing out there? It was a rhetorical question. The answer equals Ridley’s jersey number. Mike Caldwell, Blitz. A. Lot. More. Mike Caldwell needs to confuse the hell out of Stroud with a multitude of different defenses. Stunt and blitz, stunt and blitz is the name of the game in the second half.

To the Special Teams: Wow, usually the most solid of the Jags phases, you have been awful. A missed field goal, a blocked field goal, some mediocre punts. Did this team even hold a practice this week? Get your ish together. We have a kicker who can make the long ones and a punter who can boom the ball, but we need to block up front. Nothing happens in any phase without good blocking up front.

To the Coaches: You are making our team look like the Colorado Buffaloes against Oregon. You are making me want to hide under my hat and behind my sunglasses Prime Time style. Press Taylor, I know our execution has been horrible this week just like it was last week, but I’m not the only person to see a noticeable change in the offensive playcalling this season…for the worse. Use your talent correctly. We have so much of it and we are squandering it all away. Press Taylor is the Mike Caldwell of 2023. Let’s hope he figures it out like Caldwell did. Call more passing plays over the middle. Give me some tight end screens. Get Engram involved. You paid him all that damn money for a reason. Get. It. Done.

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below and I’ll let you know if they are as pitiful as our Jaguars today:
